Re: Christmas 2009

A few other Christmas tidbits: Sydney got to hear her Uncle Mike's Famous Penguin Story this Christmas. The penguin story goes as follows. A man is walking down the street with a penguin on a leash. His neighbor sees him and says, "You should take that penguin to the zoo." The next day, the neighbor...

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend

Sleep in general was very messed up this weekend. On Thursday all her naps were in the car. On Friday she got a morning nap at home but the afternoon nap was in the car and only 10 minutes long. Saturday was the only normal nap day. I am wondering if she is trying to transition to having only 1 nap ...

Happy birthday, Sydney H!

Tomorrow (October 21) is Sydney's best friend's birthday. Yes, Sydney H. from her daycare class was born only 3 days earlier than our Sydney. Sydney M. is going to give Sydney H. this little pillow with a rattle in it and a picture of the two of them. The caption says, "Sydney2, Best Friends." (In t...

Goats and llamas and pigs, oh my!

Yesterday we took Sydney to a fall festival at a local lawn and garden center. They had a scarecrow-building contest, bounce houses for older kids, pony rides, and a petting zoo. I thought Sydney would get a kick out of the petting zoo. The trip started off badly because she fought having her shoes ...

Random ramblings

Here are a couple of things going on in Sydney's life as she approaches the big first birthday: Putting things in things After months of only wanting to dump toys OUT of their containers, she is finally interested in putting toys INTO containers. Her favorite container is an empty plastic box that o...

New Skill!

Since we are going to Champaign this weekend, and it's a 3 hour drive, I wanted Sydney to be able to eat a snack in the car without making a mess. So I bought her some snack cups like this: http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Snack-Catchers-Colors-Vary/dp/B000GB0NZK They are just plastic cups with flexib...

Our little helper

The teachers at daycare report that Sydney has become quite the little helper with the younger babies. Whenever one of them cries, she crawls right over to see what is wrong. And she loves pushing them in the swing. Now if only we could get her to wash her own bottles and change her own diapers.....

Fun vs. Not Fun

Sydney likes to play in boxes and laundry baskets and whatnot. We had an empty diaper box, so I decided to invent a new game. I put her in the box and tied a belt through the handle. I gave her a ride by pulling the box around the living room. I thought she would love this. Not so much. After 3 laps...

Things Mike has been harassing me to post

Every time Sydney does something cute, Mike tells me to go post it on the forum. I never seem to get around to it. So here is a hodge-podge of cuteness that has been building up over the last week or two. Crawling: Sydney is crawling now! Yay! But of course it's not normal crawling. No, our baby can...

Re: Crawling... or not

She did figure out how to make the walker go forwards yesterday. Previously, it had also been stuck in reverse, like her crawling. And once she figured that out, it was all systems go. Crawling will probably be the same. One day it will just click. I hope.
